Afroidissonance

Afroidissonance (noun): A concept denoting the dissonance, tension, and socio-legal
discord that emerges when non-African and/or especially Euro-centric or Western political
frameworks, social norms, cultural expectations, legal and/or constitutional principles are
uncritically and biasedly imposed upon African cultural customs and traditional norms.

This term captures the structural and ideological incongruities that arise from such inconsiderate and
injudicious applications, highlighting the destabilizing effects of colonial and neo-colonial legacies on
the integrity of indigenous and sometimes divergent systems of governance, justice, and social cohesion.
Afroidissonance emphasizes the clash between external normative impositions and the rich, context-sensitive
