A futuristic slang word used in the Otherland book series, written by Tad Williams. It is used in a similar way to suck, and is possibly an abbreviation of scandalous. However, scan can mean anything from tease to creep out.

Manus

Manus is the name of a pedophile, and has subsequently been used as an insult in New Zealand, including on a TV commercial discouraging drunk driving. Hence, calling someone a Manus is like calling them a pedophile.

Necromaniacs have a preoccupation with corpses and are often also necrophiliacs.

The fear of being convicted of a crime you didn't commit, especially a major one resulting in jail time or perhaps even the death penalty. From Greek lanthasmenos meaning wrong or mistaken, and katadiki meaning conviction.
