[pulling a Stephen King]

A point in a book, movie, TV show, or internet fiction story where a child or children or harmed or killed.

"Dude, they were totally pulling a Stephen King when they killed those two kids in The Happening!"

Measured compliment

A vague and insincere compliment used to be polite in a case of something awful, i.e. a terrible play, song, art piece, et cetera.

Man 1: "Oh, what a joy. By the way, the sound...is great."
Man 2: "Good, that's good to hear."
Man 3: "Thank you for that measured compliment."
