Gaytekeeper

A person or group of people within the LGBTQ+ community who try to control, ridicule, or invalidate other people within the LGBTQ+ community, typically targetting certain terms and labels.

They believe that the term in question "isn't real" OR the person in question isn't "queer enough" to pass.

Their sense of entitlement feeds them the fantasy that their status as a mainstream queer gives them control over how other people can and can't identify.

Example 1:

Panphobe: "Pansexuality is just woke bisexuality"

Pansexual person: "there's a lot more to the spectrum of gender, sex, and expression than your narrow gaytekeeper microscope shows you."

Example 2:
Enbyphobe: "Nonbinary people aren't real because there are only 2 genders. Liek did u go to 3rd grade biology???!!1!"

Nonbinary person: "If you weren't a gaytekeeper, you'd know that college level biology says differently."

Example 3:
Transphobe:"TrAnStReNdErS hahA I'm so funny please laugh I need constant attention."
Person 1: "please be kind to me, I'm a person too-"
Person 2: "Don't even bother, they're a gaytekeeper."

Person 1: "No..."
Person 2: "They're too far gone."

Example 4:

Polyphobe: "Polyamory isn't inherently queer."

Polyamorous person: "I'm sorry, are you poly?"
Polyphobe: "No but I'm a lesbian and-"
Polyamorous Person: "So you're just a gaytekeeper..?"
