A Scottish way of saying you or someone else ran away from something. Mainly said in the North

Also to say you've booted/kicked something

Tam telt me she wis comin' on tae him so he hoofed it hame

Tam told me she was coming on to him so he sprinted home

I saa a ball in the perk so I hoofed it afore Danny could

I saw a ball in the park so I kicked it before Danny could
