The arguments are typically about topics neither knows much about, or they choose sides which they don't truly support, all for the sake of comedy.

An effect where the quality of a group or community deteriorates the longer you stay a part of it.
You think a community is awesome and flawless when you first join it, but as you stay longer and learn about it's wrongdoings, you begin to understand how flawed the server is. This will happen until you either accept the group for what it is, or leave it in disgust.
Friend: Hey, are you still a part of that one Minecraft server?
Me: Not anymore.
Friend: What? I thought you loved that server.
Me: Yea, until I realized how toxic the moderators were.
Friend: Must be The Maltempus Effect at play.
The action of getting volatile and angry over a minute and niche thing of something that's praised.
Friend 1: Hey, did you hear about that new Left 4 Dead 2 update?
Friend 2: Yea, I hear it's awesome! Though I did hear one dude complain that the update ruined his mods.
Friend 1: Don't mind him, he's probably just some fat flapping weeb who's upset that his 150 Hatsune Miku mods don't work no more. Let's go play!
Friend 2: Ight, bet!
