Some situation or someone that is a little bit sh** or sh** out of luck. Buy we or they keep persevering making the overall assessment of the situation or person rather positive overall. Usually used as an endearing term for a friend who screws up a little or makes a faux paz or whatever.

Hey the boss' son called. He's coming in at 9:30 this morning.
Oh knobs I was supposed to finish his report.

No, I fell asleep! And when I woke up my hand was still holding my half full cup of coffee.
