furp

(circa 1920s) One who sniffs the seats of bicycles ad nauseum. The word may have applied initially to the unicycle. Most often the furp is a man between ages 30 to 65, possibly employed as a high school or middle school gym teacher.

The term is also used at times as a verb to describe the sniffing action.

The term is commonly mistakenly used to describe the mix of a burp and a fart.

The coach and neighborhood furp delighted himself to the rich armoas of the neighbor's Huffy banana seat.
