Dartmouth

A small town in Southeastern Massachusetts known for....nothing. Most anybody worth a damn leaves afer high school, although sometimes they visit to see how all the dumbass football players are doing in they crappy minimum-wage jobs.

That said, there is some excellent fishing in the area, so some cool people stay in town for that reason.

Man, Dartmouth sucks. I can't wait to get out of this town.

Steve: Hey Dave I haven't seen you since high school, man. what's up?
Dave: Fuck off Steve. I'm just in Dartmouth to see my mom and the two cool people who stayed here after graduation. If you weren't such a prick in high school, I might feel bad about laughing at you for still living in this crappy town. HAHAHAHA...enjoy working at Old Navy for the rest of your miserable life, sucker! HAHAHAHAHA!

Brockway'd

Used to describe a discussion about science that has devolved into a pointless shouting match or flamewar. It is analogous to the words Goodwin'd and Bevets'd but specifically applies to a discussion about science. Most commonly used on internet discussion threads.

Steve: All scientists are phonys and liars! I heard it on talk radio!

Dave: Nuh-uh. I'm a real sciuntist and I know for a fact that the ice caps will all melt by next year!

Al: This thread has been Brockway'd. I'm gonna stop wasting my time here and get back to writing that journal article.

Lincoln Lover

1) A reference to the 16th president of the United States.

2) A disparaging term for a Northerner or one who advocates Civil Rights.

Dixie will rise again and we'll teach those Lincoln Lovers! Next time, we'll have shoes!

Damn those Lincoln Lovers! It's all their fault I have to sit next to black people at the lunch counter.

commonwealther

A person from, or resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Origins:

Massachusetts does not lend itself well to the typical suffixes (-ian, -er, etc.) attached to the name of a place to refer to someone who is from that place (perhaps because the name is not of English origin.) Thus, commonwealther is used as a reference to the fact that Massachusetts is officially designated as a Commonwealth instead of a State (although there is no legal distinction between a รขย€ยœstateรขย€ย and a รขย€ยœcommonwealthรขย€ย in the United States.).

There are three other "states" in the US that designate themselves as Commonwealths (Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Virginia.) However, the usual suffixes are applied to them (Kentuckian, Pennsylvanian and Virginian) without issue, and so a new word is not needed to describe a resident of one of those states.

Bill's not a New Yorker, he's a Commonwealther.
