Tyrfing

Norse mythology. Tyrfing was a cursed sword owned by Andvari, a dwarf king. He was a magician. Andvari gave it to Odin along with the ring Draupnir. The sword was cursed in that once it was drawn, someone had to die.

Tyrfing has a pretty cool curse, but a stupid name, if you ask me.

Joyeuse

Joyeuse was Charlemagne's sword. Charlemagne, of course, set up one of history's greatest empires.

I've heard that the Joyeuse was made of gold, but that's stupid, gold is too soft to hold an edge.
