Test Dream is a style of video editing started by the surrealist Karbo. It combines ones video footage from their camera phone and another recording devices with images and archival footage found online. Similar to when dreaming the dreamer uses the subconscious footage gathered from their waking Life and combines in a cohesive as well as non cohesive manner in order to help one navigate and work through problems they're experiencing in their waking Life.
Karbo has said he got the idea of the name from a Sopranos episode entitled "The Test Dream". David Chase explained that the title refers to the dreams where an individual turns up late for a test in school and is wearing no clothing, meaning that the person is unprepared for a test or another task they have to face. Tony is unprepared to murder his coach in his dream.
Geoff is going to use his footage he shot with his phone today in The Haight and combine it with audio from his most recent podcast to make some test dream style art.
