Mermaid Mule

A delicious alcoholic beverage of clear Puerto Rican rum, ginger beer, lime juice, a dash of orange bitters, and enough blue curaçao to make the beverage electric blue. Served in a clear glass. Concoction created in Novato, CA by The Duchess Mermaid along with Jaqueline, an amazing bartendress.

Shelter-in-place. Finding a safe location indoors and staying there until you are given an “all clear” or told to evacuate. Reasons might be because of an active shooter; tornado; or chemical, radiological, or other hazard.

During the 2020 SiP due to the coronavirus pandemic, some people chose to enhance their immune system, increase self-care, and stay connected with friends and family over the internet instead of iRL.

Spendemic

Widespread tendency to overspend. It is also evidenced as an increase in online shopping during the pandemic as “retail therapy.”

To compensate for feeling frustrated during the lengthy coronavirus pandemic shelter-in-place, many people have been creating a spendemic.
