A vague and mysterious phrase to suggest people don't know something about your character which you have kept a close secret. Just like hiding something in the closet.

Andrew shouted loudly and repeatedly 'You don't know about me! You don't know about me!'

it's escalated

It got worse and worse and worse. Really bad. Shockingly bad. To the point it needs to be announced aloud so people are aware of exactly how bad it's got.
