AAO

AAO: Above All Others

This designation is the highest possible form of devotion to another person; it supersedes BAE status by far. No one else comes close to the elevated place this person has in another person’s life. All others come after them.

Guy #1: Bro, you’ve only been dating Karly for three months, but you talk about her nonstop. Plus, you ditch us for her all the time. I think that she’s your BAE.

Guy #2: Nah, better than BAE— she’s AAO…I’ve never met anyone like her. I think I wanna marry her.

Lunch O’Clock

1) The time when one takes their lunch break and/or eats their afternoon meal. 2) Any meal-time that is an unspecified time (e.g. not exactly at “noon”) set aside for the second meal of the day. 3) The time of day when one’s brain goes “out to lunch” and checks out for an extended break.

1. I’m so hungry...I got so busy today that lunch o’clock came and went and I didn’t eat.
2. Let’s go check out that new restaurant for lunch o’clock.

3. I started to draft that memo... then lunch o’clock hit, and my brain shut down for an hour.

THOT Speak

THOT Speak: The vernacular of the THOT (“That Ho Over There”) sub-community that proliferates across the “reality show” landscape and on TikTok.

It is the way THOTs communicate to exhibit their thotness. Like its predecessors, “Valley Girl” and “Vocal Fry”, it has its own: affectation, cadence, community, drawl, global appeal, lingo, mass acceptance into mainstream speech (albeit often grudging acceptance), pattern, pitch, points of inflection, pop culture influence, rate of dispersion, regional or social saturation of social media, speed, similarity, spread, word drop-off, vibrato, vocality, and volume. In other words, THOT Speak is the way that THOTs talk—often when they are thirsty for the attention they constantly seek. It is shared across all ages, classes, genders, identities, orientations, and personal attributes.

Guy: “Shawty/Shorty, if I get that face, feet, hair and nails beat, wrap that waist in couture, light that wrist in bling, and cop you a whip, can I tap that ass?”

Girl: “Excuse you…I don’t understand THOT Speak!”

Flex or fold

The act of “putting your money where your mouth is” by rising to the occasion or backing down. Much like “nut up or shut up”, it is a challenge to someone who has said that they would do something to show strength—usually an aggressive or bold course of action. It is frequently an ultimatum to call someone’s bluff after they’ve been running off at the mouth about what they could or would do in any given situation. The term is used to shut down foolish declarations made by wanna-be types who have something to prove to themselves and others, but they often lack the ability to follow through.

Girl #1: “If Karly tries to step to me, she can catch these hands!”

Girl #2: “I think Karly might have heard what you said…she’s coming over here.”

Girl #1: “I don’t care if she heard!”

Karly: “Oh, yeah?!? Flex or fold!”

Girl #1: “JK, Karly…you know you’re my girl.”

(After mean-mugging Girl #1)

Karly: “That’s what I thought.”
