Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf (1852-1925) was an Austro-Hungarian Feldmarschal and Chief Of Staff of the Austro-Hungarian military until 1917. He is famous for his grandiosely embarrassing failures in Serbia (1914), Russia (1914-1915 read Siege of PrzemyÅl) and Italy (1915-1917 until battle of Caporetto). He was heavily interested in old style warfare, which just didn't work anymore in the new modern era. This particular played a huge role in his failures. He is widely considered a meme and the YouTube channel The Great War even used him on their merch. He is widely considered the guide for "how not to fight a modern war".
