To take something to the next level. specifically to go beyond "balls to the wall". To put forth the maximum effort. Often referring to action that requires risking one's livelihood.

Nick: I went balls to the wall on the basketball court yesterday.
Paul: Oh Yeah, I played so hard, I wound up in the emergency room after. I totally went dicks to the bricks.
