talk-over

Another type of talk-over is related to proximity. This can often be the case in a work environment where there are cubicles. Imagine 3 cubicles in a row, and person #1 wishes to speak to person #3. He or she often just talks loud to be heard, basically talking over the person stuck in the middle.

reverse spoilage

The act of losing something and doing without it for a long time, then having it again but forgetting to use it. Being spoiled we are used to having things. The opposite is true here with reverse spoilage as we get used to NOT having things.

I like to listen to music while driving in my car. 30 years ago my car radio was stolen, and so during the process of getting a new one, getting the money from the insurance company and picking out a replacement stereo, I got accustomed to driving around quietly. Once I got the stereo, I forgot to turn it on due to the reverse spoilage.

Ron Whiting

Ron White is a famous comedian who is part of the Blue Collar Comedy team. During his standup, he often has a drink in his hand, but as he attempts to take a sip he keeps talking and never really takes that sip. It is fun to watch cuz he moves his mouth towards the glass, talks a little more, then moves in for what we think will be a sip but he doesn't sip.

Quit Ron Whiting and take a darn sip of that drink!
