Perhaps taking a cue from pop culture notable Ned Flanders, the term "ned" has come to denote certain individuals as excessively polite, timid, and meek, particularly in their relations to the opposite sex. As a moniker, it carries a slightly derogatory connotation.

May also be used as a verb or an adjective.

Female gender variant: "Nedna"

Noun: "Don't be a ned, ask that girl for her number!"

Verb: "Don't ned it, get that girl's phone number right now!!"

Adjective: "That guy is so ned, no wonder he never gets any dates."
