All right, I'm just gonna show what big hypocrites everyone else on this definition are.
Thank you for your useless information. Now, what do you think of Kurt Cobain? Yes, whether you like it or not, Kurt was technically a celebrity. He certainly was rich enough to fit into the "1% controlling 90% of the money" category. Or Mick Jagger? He still is a celebrity. Yes, for every mick there is a paris. Yes, the celbrity-stalking tabloids are incredibly stupid. That's why their average reader has an IQ of 21, but still, think before you post, children.
Lets see, I don't have anything to do, so I'll post a definition of "celebrity" that is identical to 20 other peoples', and then I will b e happy. Yay!

Music TeleVision. It is a chanel that unfairly catches criticism from both bible belt conservatives, who say it is imoral, and from obnoxious teenage "communists" who wear Che Guevera tee shirts but can't distinguish between Vladimir Lennin and John Lennon. The second group says it is capitalist, prepy, and materialistic.
MTV has problems, not for it's image, but for it's musical tastes which have realy gone downhill. With the possible exceptions of Outkast, Eminem, Kanye West, and Green Day, not a single act currently on MTV is going to be remembered ten years from now. It's full of strip hop and emo.
But in all fairness, MTV has had it's good moments. It gave Guns n' Roses their first big Break. It called extremely heavy attention to Nirvana (admittedly a mixed blessing), and got the Prodigy attention. Besides, I know it's strange to imagine a time when Jacko was big, but heard of thriller? That was all MTV.
MTV's gone downhill, but they sure used to rock.

The barren desert of music. To see a good artist in the top 40 has been unheard of ever since the breakup of Nirvana. Dominated by emo, the dregs of rap,pop divas, and poser-punk acts. At least the Boy Band craze is over. When Bob Dylan's new album reached the Billboard charts this week, I was amazed.
Dude, turn of that top 40 bullshit and put on this AC/DC cd.
