anti

n (fandom): An individual actively against fan works (e.g. fan art, fanfiction, etc.) they deem problematic, harmful and/or morally wrong; and advocate for the banning, removal, or suppression of content they wish not to see.

Many of these individuals tend see the artist themselves as problematic, believing said artist(s) condone the content present in their work; and/or that fiction affects reality, and will ultimately lead to the normalization of such behaviors outside of fictional works. This sometimes leads to the bullying and harassment of those artists—including (but not limited to) callout posts, rumor spreading, doxxing, etc.—in an attempt to warn others against the artist in question, often with the intent of getting them cancelled. While not as common, this attitude can also extend to fans that consume and/or support such art as well, regardless of if they create it themselves or not.

"Just blocked an anti that said my ship between childhood friends was 'incest-coded'. Can you believe that shit?"

“So what if I spammed the report button on someone's account until they got banned? They posted a drawing of a 16-year-old wearing a thong! Those sickos can call me an anti all they want, but I don't see how I'M the bad guy here. I'm just doing what's right.”

«Hey, did you hear that the screenwriter of Hannibal came out in support of pro-shippers?»

«Damn, really? I bet antis did NOT like that.»

«Yeah, no shit. He got a caught a lot of flak and hate mail from it. Some death threats, too.»

「There's no meaningful difference to me between a right winger who calls me a pedo because I'm trans and an anti-shipper that calls me a pedo because I read Homestuck.」
