quotient

A child of divorced parents.

The "quotient" is what remains after a division, either of numbers, or of parents. Parent's don't divorce their children, the children remain related to the parents. They remain after divorce, or they are the "quotient" of divorce, the division of two people so that they are no longer "married" or "joined together." So now instead of saying "my parents are divorced" you simply say you're a "quotient." ...just like orphans don't tell you "my parents are dead" -- they say "I'm an orphan." -- or how someone tells you they're a "widow" instead of saying "my spouse is dead."

"I'm glad I'm a quotient because my parents don't fight anymore and I get 2 birthdays."

"Divorce can be very hard on quotients."
