Refers to the act of doing something in a ritualistic old fashion manner that could have been accomplished more efficiently through means of a current technology ora faster process. The term originated with tea drinkers who prefer an older approach to the time honored tradition of a social "tea time". It is stated that a certain joy comes from not just the drinking and sharing of a cup of tea but the ritual of steeping the water in the kettle and taking the time to enjoy the entire process involved. A means, to remind folks to slow down in such a busy era and enjoy the process. Also a means to insult someone for being old fashion.
"are you using a tea pot instead of a microwave to heat that cup of water? Whoa's that's Kettle!", "why are you still paying bills with a check book? that's so kettle?", "I enjoy folks who pick up the phone to discuss business instead of an emotionless email or text, it's quite kettle and endearing".
