The name of a fashion style/combination of attire when a person (of either gender) wears socks in combination with sandals or flipflops. This combination of attires is often criticised for negating one of the large advantages of wearing sandals without socks, which is allowing the bare feet to breathe. However, a benefit should be noted that person's feet will be more aerated in mandle attire, than to have ones feet buried in socks + formal shoes. The other benefit is simple comfort; many find it more comfortable to be wearing socks than to be in bare sandals. It may also be convenient in a situation to have socks ready to wear, such as when going into someone's house with a no shoes/no bare feet rule in enforcement. This word is mistakenly and often used to criticise a male for wearing sandles even without socks. The energy of calling a male out for simply wearing sandals, socks or no socks, is often the energy of sexist misandry; females are not as often criticised for simply wearing sandals. This perception may be due to a perhaps true consideration that males are more physically active/athletic oriented, and therefore a male's feet are often more sweaty/smelly than a female's.
'Why is Evan wearing socks with his sandals?'
--"Oh that's funny looking. Yeah, he's wearing mandles, alright!'
