Meaning that youâre so drunk youâre prone to accidents.
The phrase was coined by Liverpoolâs local newspaper âThe Liverpool Echoâ following the events of an accidental drunk death which occurred at a Liverpool City Bar in 1897. The man who died was only documented by his surname Marven by the paper. The term was popularised after the paper used the term to describe drunk individuals who suffered accidents of similar severity to Marven.
