Unlike most people seem to believe, chiggers are not bugs that suck your blood. They inject a chemical enzyme that dissolves your flesh, then they drink it. They're commonly found in Spanish Moss, and also known as 'red bugs'
A common misconception is the idea that they crawl under your skin and lay eggs as well.
Person A: Aww man, I just got a chigger bite!
