1. A basic has a more personal meaning...it is someone who can't understand or comprehend the basic facts of life. It can become a noun as well: base -- when speaking about a specific person with "basic" qualities

One of my patients came in yesterday with a spraint. She said she had a wild night of passionate sex that may have caused it.
