Boltgun

A gun, which fires bolts (not arrows), and is commonly and inaccurately referred to as a crossbow. Since the boltgun is not a bow, and relies on mechanical means to hold back the string, it is a misnomer to refer to it as a “bow” in any context.

“I’m just going to use a crossbow during archery, since they allow that in Wisconsin.”
-the fool

“That is not archery. It’s called a boltgun, you fool, and it was built for the elderly and handicapped.”
