Kopite

The term kopite originally referred to regular matchgoers who stood on the Spion Kop (better known as Kop) stand in Anfield, the home stadium of Liverpool F.C., the most successful football club in England. Today, the term has evolved to become a sobriquet for fans of Liverpool F.C.

Anfield's reputation as one of the most hallowed grounds in sport owes no small part to the singing kopites on the Kop stand.
