Laughing Out Loud ZULU
The last letter "z" punctuates the common acronym for "Laughing Out Loud" and provides a visual hard stop, or "end of line"; commonly interpreted as a "courtesy laugh." The "z" may have origins in the phonetic pronunciation, "Zulu," in common use by many western military forces. The letter "z" is also the last letter of the modern Latin alphabet. While LOL is rooted in the common history of Internet chat, the appearance, meaning, and use of the final "z" remains debated.
