sarchasm

(Noun). The communication divide or breakdown experienced when (i) one party interprets the other party’s sincere statement as sarcastic or (ii) one party interprets the other party’s sarcastic statement as sincere.

Tom: "I know Wendy wants me to call her, but she keeps ignoring my messages."

Jim: "How do you know she wants you to call?"

Tom: "I asked if I could call her sometime, and she said, 'Yeah, right.'"

Jim: "Sounds like you fell in the sarchasm."
