have a cow

A frequent utterance of Bart Simpson, "Don't have a cow" dismisses the other person's feelings as overreactive to the situation. The person who expresses anger, shock, disgust, or any of several other negative feelings towards an action or person is seen as having a cow. The person who induces bovine delivery, either through doing it or telling of the activity, often tries to minimize the activity as something not so bad. Saying don't have a cow minimizes both the activity itself *and* the person's feelings who is having the cow.

Jimmy Joe had a cow when he learned that his best friend, John Jay, had bought a term paper online and passed it off as his own writing.

Billy Ray laughed at Jimmy Joe's shock that he could do such a thing. He sneered, "Don't have a cow, man! Professors never read those papers anyway."

heartumentary

Often seen on PBS and at film festivals, a heartumentary is a documentary with heart. More than a documentary, which chronicles data on a particular person, place, and/or thing, a heartumentary not only informs the audience but gets them actually caring about the person, place, and/or thing.

This weekend, at the local film festival, I saw an excellent heartumentary, "Plagues and Pleasures: The Salton Sea". Watching it made me care about the place and the people and animals who live there. Since The Salton Sea is in danger of extinction, it also makes me want to let others know about it.

It's the interactive space of the Internet. It's another world, where the time-space continuum is warped. Reality is on a plane different than the world of IRL aka "in real life". People can morph and be many different personas. Madness runs rampant. Maniacs float through the ether freely. Isolated individuals can connect with other humans in Cyberia. Different countries in Cyberia are bulletin boards, usenet, blogs and blogsites like Live Journal and E Blogger, websites with discussion boards, dating sites like OK Cupid!, special interest websites like imdb.

A recluse for years, the computer programmer finally made human contact in Cyberia, at alt.support.shyness.

toe po

Short for camel toe police. The toe po are the freaky dudes who have an obsession for women's camel toes and who watch them obsessively. A camel toe is the part of a female's anatomy that looks like a camel toe, i.e. the vulva-with-split that is often outlined under pants if the pants are tight enough.

Every summer there are plenty of bodacious young females at the beach in bikinis. Just as surely are the toe po, with camera, cams, and/or binoculars.

time-space continuum

Things and events existing and moving in linear fashion. They move from one place to the next place in logical sequence in time and space. This realm is known as the time-space continuum.

Example 1: Cyberia warps the time-space continuum in that you can read about events out of chronological sequence and from anywhere, at any time on the Internet.

Example 2: The study of quantum physics considers how linear reality really is, calling into question the validity of the perception that all things fall into sequence according to the time-space continuum.
