Quibblation

The act of nitpicking or finding fault with small and insignificant details, often to avoid addressing the main issue at hand.

During the debate, instead of addressing the real issue at hand, the politician resorted to quibblation, focusing on minor discrepancies in his opponent's argument in an attempt to discredit them, but ultimately failing to present any substantial counterarguments.
