A man. Can be a friend, enemy, stranger, etc.

"This nigga's got me tight!"
"Yo, I was on the subway, and this nigga next to me ..."
"Nah - you ma nigga, bro."

This word has evolved beyond being solely a term of endearment used by African Americans when speaking to one another. I work as a NYC teacher and hear young people of all races using this word to describe non-females.
