A feeling by African- Americans of being devalued, depressed and anxious by subtle oppression from whites who hold a power position in their life. These are behaviors and authentic feelings that are believed to be historically stemmed from slavery carried on from one generation to another.
A black parent might feel intimidated by his/ her child's white teacher who appears to be subtly oppressive. Because of white fright, the parent left the school without conversing with the teacher of her child.
