It may even get to the point where they are eating things they don't really like, just to avoid the thing they should be doing.

An expression used by men when a woman wearing a very long skirt walks past. It can be used to refer to women wearing a burqa or the uniform of a catholic school.
Occasionally used in an ironic way, to draw attention to how covered up the woman is.

To Nick Carraway (verb) is to attend a party thrown by someone you know, and then proceed to make polite conversation, observe the rest of the people at the party dancing and having fun, and to neither get drunk nor become involved in any romantic encounter. It is named after the narrator of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel The Great Gatsby, called Nick Carraway, who acts in this way at the large parties held by Gatsby.
