Acronym for âyama-nashi , ochi-nashi , imi-nashi,â translated to âno climax, no plot, no meaning.â
Originally assigned as a self-derogatory term to amateur m/m doujinshi in the 1980s, not because of their pornographic nature but because of their poor storytelling techniques.
Term was dropped after the 1991 Japanese economic boom, as more publishing companies began professionally producing m/m fiction. They wanted to move away from the âamateur pornographicâ nature of yaoi, so they adopted the genre name BL (boyâs love)
yaoi is an outdated term. However itâs sometimes used in Japanese doujinshi sites, and some japanese use it as a complete misnomer for BL (the genre as a whole). it does NOT mean âfetishy explicit BL.â there is no such genre in Japan. What publishing company in their right mind would make that a genre in the first place?
I read this Haikyuu yaoi yesterday, for the plot. yeah definitely for the plot, nothing else.

A female fan of BL
Literal translation of ârotten girlâ is a play on Kanji, essentially meaning âbroken wife.â originally created by homophobic incels on 2chan to deem girls with non-heteronormative interests (gay ships) as not suitable for marriage.
Has since been reclaimed by these women; itâs original literal translation has been disassociated from itâs current usage.
youâre a fujoshi? what do you think about Sasaki to Miyano anime coming out?
