Filler

A person people use when they’re bored, to fill a temporary, convenient ‘friend’ or ‘companion’ slot, until their intended compadre arrives.

Example: Amy’s best friend Jane had not yet arrived at the baby shower, so she used Priscilla as a filler until Jane arrived.
