Montezuma's Revenge

Reaction caused by eating extreme quantities of spicy food.

Its origin comes when Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés entered the Mexicas' capital city: Tenoctitlán, he was beleived to be the god Quetzalcóatl (the mexicas had a toltec legend about a priest called Ce Acatl Topiltzin Quetzalcóatl, who fled eastward and vowed to return archaeological evidence suggests he fled to Chichén Itzá), who was said to be "tall, white and bearded". Cortés entered the city and was met by emperor Moctezuma "the young", who offered a meal in his honor. Having never tasted the local food, he eventually threw up and that's how the term came to be.
