Yorkshire (and possibly broader) slang that is pretty old and perhaps only in common usage in the countryside.
Pooting: To wander in a relaxed manner; potentially from poot = fart, -> âfarting aboutâ meaning to do something in an inefficient manner, not necessarily interested in any particular end goal.
âHey Jim. Are you about today? Fancy a pint?â
âHey Tim. Nah, sorry mate, me and the missus are pooting around Dalby Forest for the weekend. Iâm not sure when weâll be back.â
Northern English (UK) slang.
'Ta' = Thank you
'La' = In this context friend or mate. Probably from 'love' or 'lad', being informal, affectionate names used primarily in the North; especially Newcastle.
"Now then our kid, got you that thing you asked for."
"Oh, ta, la. I'll come pick it up in a mo."
