A 'maram' is planted mostly when one is describing a place, a scene from the past. Often, it is done to brag or exaggerate.
1. Of course, he is known to plant a maram or two now and then, but you can trust him. It's just that he can't help it.
2. Alex: Ron said he could get us into the club. Too bad his friend wasn't at the gate to help.
Ty: He knows no one there, he was just planting a maram as usual, for no reason.
