Kavelou

A popular slang term for members of the Masonic Lodge, specifically of the 4th degree, commonly used by masons of the 5th degree or higher to describe those who ranked below them. Originates from the Dutch term “kavel”, which was the word commonly used to describe the triangular plots of land used by 4th degree masons as a meeting place.

Have you seen the new kavelou in the lodge? I heard he graduated past the 2nd and 3rd degrees at a much quicker pace than his peers, he must be a gifted mason.
