Born in Liverpool in 1934, Tom Baker was brought up a devote Roman Catholic and even spent time in a monastery before becoming an actor ahile in the army medical corps during his national service. Quite ironic that later in life he plays the Doctor in a popular British Sci-Fi show called Doctor Who. Although he played several small parts on televison, Baker spent most of his career in the theatre, before landing the role of Rasputin in the 1971 movie Nicholas and Alexandra. Other film work followed, including the villan Prince Koura in The Golden Voyage of Sinbad in 1973.
