This term originally was used as a way describe somebody who hopped on bandwagons and was basic Now if you hear someone say normie, they are most likely a normie. Us intellectuals use the word local

Ryan: Do you know the way?
Chris: eww look at this normie.
Frank: Seems to me like you're both locals.
