Porter Bypass

An inefficient path to your destination based on poorly conceived calculations; going out of your way or taking a more time-consuming route

ORIGIN: Driving through Atlanta traffic during rush hour when trying to get from GAINESVILLE, FL to Athens, Ga

Where have you been? It's the 4th inning...did you take the Porter Bypass?

I've got a lot of time to kill, so I'm going to take the Porter Bypass.

I think we can beat them, it looks like they're taking the Porter Bypass.

SWAC

Acronym - School With A Circus

Refers to Florida State University; although the added distinction was originally thought to be due to the propensity for Seminole football players to participate in shenanigans, the acronym was actually selected to honor the university's greatest source of pride: their Flying High Circus.

Which FSU are you referring to: Ferris State University, Fresno State University, or SWAC?

Earl couldn't get into a good school, so he went to SWAC.

SWAC surrendered 11 runs in the top of the 9th to lose 16-5, but at least they have a circus to return home too.

bent rod

slang for the Atlanta Braves, FSU Seminoles, or any of their fans due to the motion their arm makes when they perform the tomahawk chop.

Braves: The Bent Rods shutout the Phillies today, 9-0 on the strength of Smoltz' pitching.

Seminoles: FSU Bent Rod Jack Rye clashed with the right field fence in nearly making an incredible play on a home run ball.

fans: The bent rods are at it again with the warchant playing and the arms flying.

left-right

a baseball heckle used by fans of the pitcher against a batter who has just struck out

"Left! Right! Left! Right! ..." (for each step of the batter as he walks back to the dugout)

Followed by a "Step!" for each step of the dugout that the batter must walk down, and then a "Sit Down!" when the steps are completed

This heckle is also used at basketball games when an opposing player fouls out

Modern origins: West Palm Beach Expos, University of Florida Baseball

Ump: "Strike 3!"
Fans marching the batter back to the dugout give the left-right heckle: "Left! Right! Left! Right! Left! Right! Left! Right! Left! Right! Left! Right!...Step! Step! Step!...Sit Down!"
