piped

Piped (verb)

Investment slang: To be blindsided by an unexpected financial loss, often due to unforeseen market events, bad investments, or sudden economic changes. The term likens the experience to getting hit by a burst pipe—quick, unexpected, and often leaving a mess to clean up.

"I thought my portfolio was rock solid, but then energy stocks crashed, and I got piped hard."
"Did you see that earnings report for Inferior Minus? Anyone holding that stock just got piped."
