MDUSA
Many Died You Shall Also
This ACRONYM for 'Medical Department United States Army' was monogramed on the front top pockets of Army-issued bathrobes during World War II. The hospital humor of the wounded G.I.s soon changed it to mean:
Many Died You Shall Also.
When a new wounded G.I was wheeled into a hospital ward during World War II, he would almost surely be met with a cry of 'Welcome to MDUSA!' Followed by a loud chorus of 'Many Died You Shall Also!' And no matter how seriously wounded the soldier might be, he knew he was with others who understood what he'd been through.

Isn't there anyone left who remembers World War II where this acronym originated?
FUBAR=Fucked Up By Army Regulations
The other great acronym from that war is also now part of the language:
SNAFU=Situation Normal All Fucked Up
"This is an outfit where Fubar is King!"
