abb. of androgynous. having characteristics of both masculine and feminine gender ideals (being some where in the middle or outside the male-female polarity model). andro can refer to clothes, appearence, attitude, style, or self-identification.

many pop musicians in the 70's and 80's cultivated an andro look, e.g. mick jagger, david bowie, annie lennox, prince, and boy george, to name a few.

an oddly addictive, endearing cop dramady on the USA cable network, centering around the character of Adrian Monk (played by Tony Shalhoub), a San Fransisco detective battling with obsessive-compulsive disorder and his grief over the death of his late wife, Trudy.

i usually don't watch TV, but i make an exception for Monk.

Rainbow

a widely recognised symbol of the glbtq community, usually in flag form, inteded to represent the diversity found among glbtq people.

the rainbow flag consitsts of six horizontal stripes of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. is used to denote gay pride or gay-friendliness.

rick has a rainbow bumper sticker on his car.
