Smugwam - adj - descriptor of an affluent but naive person who believes that their single world experience (missionary work, semester abroad, etc.) has granted them exclusive knowledge about the world in which they believe that they are enlightened and must share their worldliness in a condescending way to others.

"Did you hear that Katie is back from her semester abroad in Mongolia? She's been trying to convince me that it would be better for me to live carrying a single bowl around and not to eat any meals from anything but that."
