impedence

A measurement (in Ohms) of how much an electrical circuit pushes back when it's pushed.

The phone/phono jack input to an amp is usually a high-impedence circuit. It will not allow a high amount of current to flow into the amp. Woofers on the other hand are low-impedence devices which allow a large current flow from the amp to provide a massive amount of power to the people...unless you push too much and smoke em.

Democrat

A member of the political party in the United States who believes the gubberment is supposed to provide anyone's basic needs who is unable to provide it for their self. This fallacy falls apart when people choose not to work and prefer to go on welfare because they can. Further decay will occur when items such as iPods, Cellphones, and Escalades are redefined as basic needs. See Socialist, Communist

crossover

Electrical circuit used in a sound system to direct different frequencies to tweeters, woofers, and midranges or to power amps that power them. Passive crossovers use the power available, whereas active crossovers use powered devices such as transistors or op-amps to more cleanly divide the signal and are normally placed in the high impedence part of the circuit before the power amps.

I put active crossovers in my Maserati because I kept smoking the passive ones. My ride's system really hits hard now.

Communist

Someone who believes "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." - Karl Marx This fallacy falls apart when all communists finally snap to the fact that if their need exceeds their ability they should be able to eat without working (also see socialist, democrat).

"Those kids are a bunch of communists." in reference to a bunch of slackers all living in the same apartment who believe "someone" is supposed to go buy food.
