The title of a song written by Simpsons' character Kirk Van Houten during his divorce with Luann Van Houten in Season 4, Eposide 4 (A Milhouse Divided). Aired December 1, 1996.

honig

A greeting between friends, used like "hi" or "hey." Generally responded to with a repeat of "honig." Typically used in passing.

Originates from the MIT chapter of Tau Epsilon Phi where David Honig was a notoriously antisocial brother. In particular, he reacted with pronounced paranoia to hearing his name spoken. Accordingly, his name started being used as a regular greeting amoung brothers.

Alice to Bob: "honig"
Bob to Alice: "honig"

eit

The act of hitting an object (usually a container of food) out of somebody's hands in jest. Originates from the MIT chapter of Tau Epsilon Phi.

The three rules of eiting are:

- The eit'er helps clean
- Do not eit coffee
- Do not eit raisins

The term has since evolved to be used as an exclamation of frustration along the lines of "crap" or "damn."

I made some popcorn, but sulu eit'ed it as I walked past him in the stairwell.

'tute

An abbreviation of "institute" used as a slang term for the Massachusettes Institute of Technology (MIT), a university in Cambridge, Mass.

Often used by students to refer to the physical campus itself, as opposed to surrounding locations such as dorms and associated research affiliations.

I'm heading to the 'tute to turn in a problem set.
